Moon Tattoos

 

 

In folk lore and in a variety of cultures the symbol of the moon has a host of interpretations.  In buddhism the full circle of the moon symbolizes perfect truth.  The moon tattoo is said to represent water, north and winter while the sun tattoo is associated with fire, south and summber.  The popular combination of sun and moon tattoos are frequently depicted as male and female.

Universally the moon is assoicated with change and growth along with the passing of time.  The moon tattoo in reference to the phases of the moons cycle symbolizes regeneration.

One popular design of the moon tattooo is in the crescent shape or with a night cap and face, such as the man in the moon.  Other combinations include the moon with stars or with clouds.  Wonderful varietys of color combinations of blues, golden stars as well as pastels have been used to create impressive displays.
