Skull tattoos have been popular for many years.  Fascination and curiosity surrounding

 the skull has been of interest throughout the ages and will surely continue to be of interest

 for times to come.  For many the association of mortality is linked to the skull tattoo.

 

In Christian art form from the middle ages onward the skull has been a symbol

of death.  It has been worshiped by many cultures as a source of power.  It has

also been used to drink from as well as displayed as trophies. Some skull tattoos

have been worn to show membership or loyalty to a particular group

or organization, some  display this tattoo as a symbol of rebirth.  The skull has

been the attribute of  several saints and an object of contemplation.

 

Some designs of the skull tattoo are as follows.  Smiling or laughing, ghostly,

fierce looking, wearing various hats or ties.  In conjunction with barbed wire,

 flames, crossbones, black or colorful, tribal with full body skeleton.
