Sun Tattoos

The rising and setting of the sun symbolizes death and resurrection.  This powerful symbol has been worshiped in a variety of ways all throughout the world, its no wonder that the sun tattoo is so popular. In China and Japan the symbolic sun was associated with the Imperial family and is one of the Twelve ornaments on the Chinese imperial robe.  Sun tattoos can be a very colorful decorative tattoo.

There are many associations to the sun in the Christian faith such as Christ's baptism, crucifixion and the Virgin Mary Immaculate Conception.  The sun tattoo is said to represent abundance and its warm rays are symbolic of healing and peace.

The sun tattoo is frequently pictured in combination with the moon.  A wide variety of facial expressions are displayed on this tattoo as well as limbs.  The most commonly colors are orange, yellow and red although there is lots of room to be creative in the choice of colors to create a bright brilliant design.Other styles include rays of light, points and or halos.
